As a follow up to the other Blu-Ray articles, Cu3ed has written a new one Blu-Ray – do I need to buy it? (May 2008) which can be found along with the others in the articles tab at the top. Any questions ask Cu3ed here

Of coarse you need to buy it, as long as you dont expect your remastered copy of Bladerunner to look as good as Ratatouille or Cars cus' it aint gonna happen, even Casino Royale suffers with cogging on high speed images with 24p turned on, this is due to the analogue transfere from film. To benifit from BluRay you need to get digital created films such as those mentioned above, otherwise prepare to be let down a little. I would deff buy a Panasonic BD30 BluRay player, (But then I would say that as I sell them), they are the best on the market at the moment, but would wait until the movie studios get there act together and start producing full digital films before I buy any memorable Bluray films.

Correct, DVDman, tho I was hinting at this ( I couldnt go thru each release/ studios to know who is doing what with back dated releases), hence why I was saying "release of future titles", say from the end of 2008 2009 onwards, when they settle on some form of standardisation perhaps?..and when the newer version of BR becomes available. I do believe they will sell, but just no where near as quick as what DVD caught on/ prices change considerably. Bad/ little marketing hasnt help'd anyone either I dont think.

It's a funny one this. I really like High Def and have blu-ray. Yet what is stopping me buying is that the films are not as widely available as DVD. There's a new format war now. DVD vs Blu-ray. Blu-ray is on the ropes!

The war is not yet over, when the manufacturers get there act together and get the hardware out there they may stand a fighting chance, Pana are still filling backorders from March. We have on average 25 units in a week and cannot fill all or the orders we have outstanding which grows on a daily basis. Sorry cu3ed didnt read all of the article (Busy at the mo), apologise if I reiterated what you already said

You must remeber that the same picture houses that are making BluRay have money in DVD production units, they dont want to waste what they already have in place. It's not going to be a sudden BluRay invasion instead it will be a gradual phasing out of the old and bringing in the new. They have laid down 2 years max to allow for the changeover, meanwhile we still record on DVD R, this will change with PVR's becoming more popular, but then we need to get hard drives more reliable, or go over to solid state memory.
